Drake students turn "Trash to Treasure"

Even among finals week, the students involved in Student United Way at Drake are working hard to raise money for their future programming focused on United Way of Central Iowa's priorities of education, income, and health.

Throughout this week, Drake students are donating items for Student United Way's Trash to Treasure community yard sale on Friday, May 15 from 2 to 6 p.m on Helmick Commons (rain location Olmsted Center, click for a campus map). Many students throw away good items (futons, lamps, school supplies) that they simply are unable to take home or wherever they are going after graduation. Student United Way decided they wanted to help reduce this waste and saw an opportunity to raise some funds, while also offering affordable items to the Drake and Des Moines community.

If you are available this Friday, stop by sometime between 2 and 6 to see if there is an item that you might need. You never know!
